Are fangs creepy or cool? Attendees to a presentation featured at the Wagner Free Institute of Science will be asked just that as they are shown live animals from the Elmwood Park Zoo. At this time of year when bats, werewolves and vampires seem to be everywhere, the Wagner institute will host an open house to learn about the power and purpose of fangs. People will have the opportunity–if they dare–to examine the fangs of live animals including alligators, tarantulas, bats and snakes. After examining long-toothed friends, guests will have the opportunity to explore the Wagner Institute’s collection to find more fanged creatures. Children are welcome to participate in hands-on activities with natural history specimens and Halloween craft making to take home for holiday decorations.

Surrounded by the multitude of bicycle wheels that punctuate Isaiah Zagar’s glistening mosaics, the annual Bike Part Art Show will be held at Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens. The show benefits Neighborhood Bike Works and features distinctive artwork created from wheels, gears and other bicycle parts. Both the Neighborhood Bike Works and Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens embody the unique spirit of Philadelphia.
