Former provost Hai-Lung Dai filed suit against former president Neil Theobald, alleging slander and libel.
In its last meeting of 2016, the Board announced Steve Charles as its newest member and the Faculty Senate President Michael Sachs asked the board to consider naming the university a sanctuary campus.
A petition with more than 900 signatures will make its way to the president and provost before the end of the semester.
Theobald was one of three finalists for the top administration position.
Neil Theobald served as Temple's president for three years until his negotiated resignation this summer, amid concerns about the university's merit scholarship program.
He served as Temple’s eighth president from 2000 to June 2006.
Hai-Lung Dai is accusing Neil Theobald of slander, libel and misrepresentation.
The Board of Trustees also re-elected several of its members and announced a new food provider for the university's dining halls.
Administrators will decide how many scholarships to award.
The deanship in the school is named for Lewis Katz, who gifted $25 million to Temple.
