In the week before Thanksgiving break, most of the IFC fraternities welcomed their new brothers into their ranks as they were initiated and “crossed” into full brotherhood, just in time for executive board elections. One such fraternity was Kappa Sigma, which recently initiated 26 new members.

With more brothers among them, Kappa Sig will host a tailgate-themed Free Food and Fun Friday event on Friday, Dec. 2. In support of the men’s basketball team’s game against Central Michigan, the evening will feature tailgate-inspired games including water pong, bolo toss and bean bag toss in addition to free food and raffles. The event will be held in the Atrium of the Student Center from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Other events this week include a comedy show hosted by the brothers of Sigma Alpha Mu on Wednesday, Nov. 30. With the help of TUComedy and the Temple University Improv Club, ƩAM will entertain their audience from 6:30 to 9 pm at the Rosen Hillel Center on 15th and Norris streets. Admission is $5 at the door and will be donated to fund research on Esophageal Cancer, an illness from which the grandfather of a ƩAM brother is currently suffering.

Just down the street from Hillel at the corner of Broad and Norris Streets at their official house, the brothers of Alpha Epsilon Pi will host their bi –annual Open Mic Night from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 1. $5 admission gets guests refreshments and entertainment from a variety of musical, poetic and comedic performances.

In NPHC news, the brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity are hosting their annual “Alpha Week,” featuring a series of educational events with titles ranging from “What’s Your Fix?” to “Institutionalized Racism – Vicious Cycle” that will be hosted in the 200 rooms of the Student Center on Monday through Thursday, each starting at 7:06 p.m. The week of festivities will conclude with the 12th annual Pharaoh’s Ball in Mitten Hall on Saturday, Dec. 3, also beginning at 7:06 p.m.

TUGA will hold their final general assembly meeting of the semester on Wednesday, Dec. 7, at 6 p.m. in room 217 CD of the Student Center.
