Erica Hawthorne-Manon – Small But Mighty Art

Erica studied African American studies at Temple and moved to Philly in 2003 to join the performing arts community as a poet, vocalist and actor. In 2012, she founded Small But Mighty Arts, a direct-service organization that provides local artists with micro-grants and connections to career-enhancing resources.

Temple Represented in Organization Granted with $2.53 Million

The Temple University Music Preparatory Division is part of the Philadelphia Music Alliance for Youth, a collaborative of music education organizations serving elementary through high school Philadelphia region-area students. PMAY was recently awarded a $2.53 million grant by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation in hopes of increasing diversity in classical music ensembles.

Tyler School Alumna Cofounds Colombian Food Pop-Up

Samantha Schlegel, who graduated from Tyler School of Art in 2009 is a cofounder of Usaquen, a Columbian food popup that offers both meat and vegetarian dishes. They appear monthly inside Philly Style Bagels in Fishtown.

Temple Holds Meeting for Canvas

Representatives from Canvas, an app that is to replace Blackboard in the upcoming school year, came to speak to members of the Temple community.

Shizz Alston Jr.

Sophomore lead guard Shizz Alston Jr. came to Temple as an ESPN top 100 recruit. He also came following the footstep of his father who played for Temple in the mid 1990s.
