Mayor Street speaks during grand opening of the Pearl Movie Theatre, located at 1600 N. Broad St. The doors to the Pearl Theatre at Avenue North opened last night and Gov. Rendell and Mayor Street were there to celebrate this long-awaited achievement. Representatives of Tower Investments, Citizens Bank, President Ann Weaver-Hart, and Councilman Darrell Clarke were also in attendance. After years of failed attempts, it took the dedication of Bart Blatstein, CEO of Tower Investments to bring the project to fruition.
“This is a great new beginning,” Street said. “But this isn’t the end. There’s a lot more that needs to be done.”
