Police make arrest in Tyler assault

Cheltenham Police made an arrest in the Sept. 23 sexual assault that occurred in Blai Hall on Temple’s Tyler Campus. According to police, Christopher Martin, age not available, was arrested Nov. 20 after police responded to an unrelated incident at the Lynwood Gardens apartments in Elkins Park, Pa.

Police said Martin came to the police car at around approximately 3 a.m. and indicated
that he was the individual who had committed the sexual assault in September. Police then took Martin to the police station, where he made a confession.

Martin was formally charged with the sexual assault and was held on a $1 million cash bond. He could not post bail and is still in custody.
