Unlike yesterday’s demonstrations in the Lawrenceville section of Pittsburgh, today’s anti-G20 march was peaceful and permitted. Although 4,500 demonstrators were expected, the actual numbers are believed to have doubled that. Today’s demonstrations brought large groups of organizations such as the Tibetan Peace Organization, Iraq Vets Against the War, Code Pink: Women for Peace, as well as anarchists. Marching through town, where the G20 summit was held, some believed the demonstration would turn violent, resulting in a strong showing of police force.
