Dear Editor,

As a Temple student, I am very worried that (the very few) students who voted in our recent election are going to be sadly let down by TU Nation’s administration.

Sure, the free SEPTA tokens would be nice, but it doesn’t do much in the long run. And the GPS tracking systems on the shuttles? Considering that the university is “facing a challenging financial situation,” where does TU Nation think the university is going to get the thousands of dollars to implement such a system? Money aside, getting Facilities Management to work with Computer Services on something like that seems like quite a nightmare. Not to mention the fact that a lot of the shuttles aren’t even owned by Temple and are leased out through a third-party, so you can forget tracking systems on most of the shuttles anyway. It’s a perfect case of campaign promises that are too good to be true. Maybe they’ll actually do their research next time.

But my biggest problem is the proposed restructuring. Since I’ve been a Temple student, TSG has already been restructured twice – once to create the senate, then again to reorganize the senate. Next year will be the third time they’ve restructured it since I’ve been here, and the second time it’s going to be done under Mr. Colin Saltry’s presidency. If Mr. Saltry knows “what’s wrong” with TSG and “how to fix it,” he should have done that a while ago, considering this will be his fourth (and hopefully final) year in TSG. Students don’t want to see TSG “fixed,” they just want to see it “work.” Instead of putting all the time into fixing themselves, TSG needs to just take what they have, make it work, and actually serve their purpose – represent students.

Sincerely,
