Athletic director to retire next month

The president’s senior adviser will serve as interim athletic director.

Athletic Director Bill Bradshaw will retire effective June 30 in order to give more attention to personal issues in his family, according to a statement from the university.

Bradshaw, who has served as athletic director since 2002, will take a leave of absence starting May 3, at which point President Neil Theobald’s senior adviser, Kevin Clark, will serve as interim athletic director.

“Bill was the right person at the right time for Temple athletics, and we are grateful for his commitment to excellence and dedication to our student-athletes,” Theobald said in the statement. “I want to thank Bill for the dedication that he has given Temple as director of intercollegiate athletics over his tenure here.  Bill leaves a strong foundation in place for his successor.  We are grateful for his efforts and wish him the very best.”

Clark will be the interim athletic director until a national search to fill the position is completed. Clark came from Indiana University where he served as senior associate athletic director. Theobald said in the statement that Clark’s prior experience in athletics is valuable to the transition.

“I worked with Kevin at Indiana University where he was senior associate athletic director. I have the utmost confidence in his ability to lead the Temple University Athletics Department during this transition period,” Theobald said.
