Lacrosse drops second in Colorado

The Owls were swept in the road trip.

Temple will leave Colorado with two losses, after losing to Denver 12-9.

Despite outscoring Denver 5-3 in the second half, the Owls couldn’t comeback from a 9-4 deficit that was set in the first.

After Denver opened up the scoring with four straight goals from senior midfielder Meredith Harris, senior attacker Jenn Etzel, junior attacker Jill Remenapp and sophomore midfielder Monica Lucas, sophomore midfielder Nicole Tiernan put Temple on the board with under 20 minutes left.

Following two more Denver goals from Harris and junior midfielder Rachael Dillon, the Owls came up with goals from sophomore midfielder Bridget Hufnagel and junior attacker Molly Seefried to make it a 6-3 game.

After another goal from Remenapp, Tiernan came up with her second goal of the day to keep the Owls within three with under two and a half minutes left, but Lucas and Harris were able to tally two more goals in the final minute of the half to cushion Denver’s lead.

Two goals each from sophomore midfielder Kirstie Connor and senior attacker Jaymie Tabor, and another from Tiernan to complete the hat-trick, kept Temple within reach. But goals from Denver’s Harris, sophomore midfielder Rachel McKinnon and sophomore defender Christa Reese were enough to put the Owls away.

Temple drops 2-4 on the season, and after spending Spring Break in the Midwest, the team will return home to face Delaware on Saturday at Geasey Field. The Owls have played three games on the road this year, but have yet to win one.
