Men drop fourth straight

Team now 0-21 against Penn.

The men’s tennis team fell to Penn 7-0 this afternoon at the Levy Pavilion on Penn’s campus.

The Owls fall to 2-4 (1-0 Atlantic 10 Conference), while the Quakers improve to 4-1 (0-0 Ivy League). In 21 meetings, Penn has won every match.

Penn started off the match with the doubles point. In the second flight, freshman Nicolas Paulus and sophomore Hernan Vasconez lost 8-6 to sophomore Sylvester Wee and freshman Blaine Willenborg. Sophomore Kristian Marquart and freshman Sam Rundle got Temple’s only win of the day, winning 8-4 against junior Andrew Berman and freshman Vim De Alwis in flight three. In the top flight, senior Kacper Rams and freshman Santiago Canete fell to sophomore Jeremy Court and junior Zach Katz 8-6.

In singles play, Willenborg defeated freshman Hicham Belkssir 6-2, 6-0 in the second flight. In flight one, Rams, who was suffering from a sore shoulder, fell 6-3, 6-2 to Court. In the fifth flight, Canete lost 6-3, 6-4 to De Alwis.

Marquart was defeated by Katz 6-2, 6-3 in the third flight. Paulus fell 6-1, 6-4 to sophomore Ismael Lahlou in the fourth flight. The last match to end was flight number six, where Rundle lost to freshman Austin Kaplan 6-3, 6-4.

The Owls have a 10 day break until their next match, a home tilt against George Washington. The match will take place at 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, at Legacy.
