The lacrosse team was scheduled to commence its season Sunday with a home opener against Virginia. Snowy conditions in the Philadelphia region changed those plans. The game is rescheduled
for Wednesday, March 7 at 1 p.m. at Geasey Field.

The game would have pitted the Owls’ new coach Bonnie Rosen against her alma mater, which she led to its first national championship as a player in 1991.

After graduating from Virginia in 1993, Rosen founded the lacrosse program at Connecticut in 1997. She coached the team to an Eastern College Athletic Conference Championship in 2005 along with a top 20 national ranking.

The Owls’ first game will now take place Wednesday at Geasey Field at 4 p.m. against crosstown rival Penn. The Owls look to improve upon their 10-8 mark from a year ago, when they saw their season halted in a second-round defeat to Richmond at the Atlantic Ten Conference tournament.

No. 4 North Carolina will also pay Geasey Field a visit this week, coming to town for a 1 p.m. start Sunday afternoon.
