Then and now: CHARMIE R. SNETTER, Editor-in-Chief 2006-07

I was a freshman who was blessed – and in some ways, cursed – to be The Temple News’ Temple Student Government beat reporter.

I was a freshman who was blessed – and in some ways, cursed – to be The Temple News’ Temple Student Government beat reporter. That was my first memorable encounter with The Temple News, and I was impressed. I’ll admit I was a bit intimidated by the upperclassmen on the paper, but I was thrilled to be a part of the experience. That was in 2003.

Three years later, I would become the paper’s editor-in-chief. I couldn’t have imagined this feat as I filed TSG reports from my Hardwick Hall dorm room. I enjoyed the camaraderie – and the clashes – of the newsroom. I learned more than ever to agree to disagree, to be cool on deadline and to forever relinquish my Monday nights to Rm. 243 of the Student Center.

I cannot define my Temple experience without The Temple News and the opportunities it created for me to be a force of change in my community.
