Expanded overnight shuttle services were announced at the Temple Student Government Meeting on Feb. 10.

TSG also kicked off Respect Week by signing pledges at Monday’s General Assembly meeting.

Dean of Students James Fitzsimmons asked TSG members to pledge to show respect for themselves and others by signing large boards with the pledge printed on it.

The pledge boards will be presented to guests at Saturday’s men’s and women’s basketball games.

A new late-night shuttle service was announced by TSG President T.J. Baker.

The OWLOOP shuttles will run in a circuit around the University’s main campus from 5 p.m. to 6 a.m.

The buses will stop at 15 locations and will run every 10 to 20 minutes, according to University Police Lt. Eileen Bradley.

“Demand [for escort services] is getting so great as more students live [in] on-campus housing, and it becomes impossible to give individual escort,” said Managing Direector of Campus Safety Carl Bittenbender.

“We are trying to use our resources more efficiently for students on main campus,” Bradley said.

“This is still work in progress. I welcome comments and questions.”

Bradley can be reached at (215) 204-6049.

For students who live off campus, the Night Owl service boundaries have been expanded, Fitzsimmons said. Students can be picked up by calling 215-204- TRIP.

The Night Owl Shuttle will now pick students up as far north as York Street, south to Master Street between 6th and 13th streets and Girard Avenue between 13th and 19th streets, east to Germantown Avenue and west to 19th street.

This expansion places the shuttle’s boundaries beyond the University Police’s jurisdicton, but the large number of students residing in surrounding area and concerns for their saftey prompted the expansion.
