$1.25 MILLION DOLLARS. If my family had that much money, we
would be set for the rest of our lives. Instead, we struggle to make
ends meet month to month, especially with my school expenses
adding on to our already tenuous financial situation, yet the president
of this fine college, which denied me a place to live this semester,
now has an expensive condominium for which this school is footing
the bill. What happened to college presidents living in a nice house
on campus? Is Temple too ugly a campus, too unsafe, or too close to
the ghetto for our president to grace us with his presence here?
Surely those thousands and thousands of dollars every student is
paying to learn here could be doing more good, like creating housing
for the hundreds of students denied it every semester, or going
toward financial aid so the less fortunate can partake in a better
future – or even just towards fixing and cleaning the horrible
bathrooms in some of the buildings. Maybe if we spent those
thousands on improving our campus, Adamany would be proud to
entertain those potential financial backers right here.
