Ask A. TV

Dear Mr. Television:

I am suffering from an identity crisis. I consider myself a follower and not a leader. I have been trying tremendously to become a leader, but some powerful forces at will do not allow me to become a leader and an individual.

I am also afraid to speak up when someone is taking advantage of me and I sometimes let people walk all over me. My friends, along with my girlfriend, disrespect me all the time and I don’t do anything about it. What steps can I take to put an end to this? I need help please!

Dear Smacks,

Do you remember the episode of “Silver Spoons” entitled “Menudo Madness?” That’s the one where Ricky (in order to impress people at school) claims that Menudo is going to perform at his party.

Unfortunately, Ricky was lying. All was well in the end (Menudo made a guest appearance), but what would have happened if Ricky didn’t pull this off? The entire fiasco would have blown up in his face.

The moral of the story is that if you are forced to do something to impress your friends, then they probably aren’t your friends in the first place. If your so-called “friends” really cared about you, then they wouldn’t disrespect you.
