Fresh off impressive performances in their respective races, the men’s and women’s crew teams will face their next test at the Dad Vail Regatta on May 11 and 12. The men’s team upset No. 17 Georgetown
on the Schuylkill River Saturday. Also rowing on the Schuylkill, the women’s Second Varsity 8 won the Bergen Cup Saturday.

The Dad Vail Regatta, which takes place on Philadelphia’s very own Schuylkill River, is the largest collegiate regatta in the nation. Each year, it features more than 100 schools from the United State and Canada. The men’s team scored 21 points to finish second in last year’s Dad Vail to rival Saint Joseph’s, which scored 31 points.

The Owls have come close to winning the Dad Vail in recent years, finishing in a third-place tie in 2005 and in third in 2004. They have not won the event since 2001, when they captured their 13th consecutive Dad Vail victory.

The women’s team did not place at last year’s regatta.
