Aquiles Iglesias, professor of communication sciences in Temple University’s College of Allied Health Professions, has been named acting dean of the Graduate School by President David Adamany.

As acting dean, Iglesias will oversee all graduate education within the University.

Iglesias, who has been a Temple faculty member for over 20 years, has been the principal investigator of seven U.S. department of education-funded training grants designed to increase the number of minority students at Temple.

He also served as chair of the Communications Sciences department in the College of Allied Health Professions for 12 years.

Iglesias received his bachelor’s degree in 1970 and his master of speech-language pathology degree in 1972, both from Southern Illinois University.

He received his Ph.D. in speech science from the University of Iowa in 1978.
