All JPRA undergraduates in need of some extra cash can now apply for the Jay A. Strassberg Memorial Scholarship.

The scholarship awards Temple students with at least $1,000 if they meet the requirements of financial need and academic achievement. All applications must be received no later than March 29.

Interested students must fulfill the following criteria:

Submit a brief letter detailing personal and educational background, work history, course study at Temple and any post-collegiate plans.

Send a current transcript, including grade point average.

Include a letter of recommendation submitted by a faculty member of the JPRA department.

Include a disclosure of financial information revealing all sources of funding being received or offered, including any other scholarships, financial awards or assistance.

Students interested in a career in print journalism can now apply for the Ralph Flamminio Memorial Scholarship.

The student that receives the scholarship will be given $1500 toward senior-year tuition and a paid summer internship at one of several participating Pennsylvania newspapers. The deadline is March 30.

The following requirements must be met:

  • Pennsylvania resident;
  • Student must be in good academic standing at a four-year university, but does not have to be a journalism major;
  • Should be determined to pursue a career in print journalism;
  • Should be an excellent student.
  • Should be active on the campus newspaper or have comparable print journalism experience.
    The following information must be sent to apply:

  • A cover letter describing experience in print journalism, interest in the field and what contributions would be made to the craft as a journalist;
  • A college transcript;
  • Up to five non-returnable clips;
  • An optional letter of recommendation.
