DAWN OF THE DEAD, remade by director Zack Snyder from George Romero’s
seminal 1978 classic horror film, defies expectations to become a zombie movie
that not only succeeds in delivering the goods, but manages to take the original
DAWN’s story in a completely new direction.

Snyder’s remake is a powerhouse of gore and terror, during which our
characters must survive legions of frightening (and incredibly fast) zombies who
can transform a human being into a member of the living dead from only a
single bite.

Armed with a surprisingly solid and economical script by James Gunn, actors
Sarah Polley, Jake Weber, Ving Rhames, and Matt Frewer in a standout cameo,
turn in potent performances and make their characters compelling and
sympathetic, something not often found in zombie horror.

DAWN never lets the tension drop, right up to its terrifying final moments, and
is a worthy entry in the horror genre.
