In this country, security has become one of our top priorities. It is ironic though, that those who work to protect us are often do not receive the respect or compensation that they deserve. This is the case here at Temple. Allied-Barton, who provides much of the security staff here at Temple, has refuse to recognize the security guards right to organize an union. Currently their salaries max out at 8.90/hr, poor healthcare, and must work under harsh working conditions. That is why, Student-Labor Action Project [SLAP] has teamed up with the security guards and the SEIU in order to apply pressure to Temple University and Allied-Barton to ensure that those who protect us receive fair labor rights. For more information feel free to attend our weekly SLAP meetings in Ritter Hall 113 on Wed. At 7:00pm or visit securityunion.org .Also Sept. 29th from 12:00 – 4:00 we will be handing out information at the SAC, for our Security Guard Appreciation Day. Help support those that protect you.
