Blue Devils too much for Comfort, Owls

The women’s basketball team threatened to upset No. 8 Duke at the Paradise Jam Tournament on Friday, but was outplayed in the game’s final stretch, losing 64-53.

The Owls (1-3) had the Blue Devils (5-0) between their crosshairs, down 56-53 with 2 1/2 minutes to play, but Duke proved too much. The Blue Devils reeled off an 8-0
run to take down the Owls.

Senior Lady Comfort stood tall again, providing her second straight double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. The Owls out-rebounded the Blue Devils 42-41.

The Owls continued their shooting struggles going just 32.7 percent from the floor, and 56 percent from the charity stripe.

LaKeisha Eaddy and Shenita Landry added 11 and 10 points, respectively. Ashley Morris dished off three assists.

The Owls continue their challenging schedule against No. 20 Purdue on Saturday at 6 p.m. Purdue lost to Duke on Thursday night 53-41.
