Candidates for the 2003-2004 Temple Student Government administration election were announced at the General Assembly meeting on Monday.

Two slates of candidates were introduced by TSG Election Commissioner Denica Beaton.

“A Better Temple” is composed of Ryan McKeon for President, Justin DiBlassio for Vice President of Student Affairs and Nick Papacostas for Vice President of Academic Affairs.

The current TSG Speaker, Bryan Carter, is running for president on the “Team Temple 2” slate with Charles Postell for Vice President of Student Affairs and Sarah Baker for Vice President of Academic Affairs.

The first slate debate was scheduled for April 3 at noon in the Student Center Atrium, Beaton said.

Candidate platforms and online voting will be available at uvote.temple.edu this year, Beaton said.

The election will be held on April 15 and 16.

In addition to online voting, voting sites will be available in the Student Center, Tuttleman Learning Center, Speakman Hall, Annenberg Hall, 7-Eleven, the 1300 residence hall, Johnson Hall and Hardwick Hall on Main Campus; sites will also be available on the Health Science, Ambler, Tyler and Center City campuses, Beaton said.

Dean of Students James Fitzsimmons said students are needed as poll watchers during the TSG election.

Poll watchers will be paid $6.50 per hour.

Fitzsimmons also said that 50 Cent, Busta Rhymes, and Lil’ Kim will play at Temple on April 30.

The concert, sponsored by MTV, will be in the Liacouras Center; discount tickets will be available for students.

A TSG-sponsored University Exchange meeting will be held on April 8 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Tuttleman Learning Center room 103.

The meeting will provide students with the opportunity to address their opinions to the Dean of Students, representatives from campus safety and the housing office.

Lt. Eileen Bradley from campus safety visited to recruit student drivers for the NightOwl escort vans.

Drivers need to be over 20 years old and have a valid driver’s license.
