Students arrested in connection with hate crime

David Scottmicharl_walsh.jpgAccording to the daily crime report compiled by Campus Safety Services, police arrested three students Feb. 27 for aggravated assault, ethnic intimidation and related charges in connection with the Feb. 15 attack President Ann Weaver Hart referred to as a hate crime.

A fourth suspect is expected to turn himself in.

Officer Jillian Russell of the Philadelphia Police Department Public Affairs Division confirmed the arrests of Stephen Scott, 19, David Scott, 20, both of Willow Grove, Pa. and Michael Walsh, 20, of Florham Park, N.J.

She said the fourth suspect’s lawyer is in contact with police and that he is expected to turn himself in.

Stephen ScottThe crime, which occurred during the early morning hours of Feb.15, left the victim, a non-Temple student, with a fractured orbital and a broken nose. The perpetrators allegedly used anti-Semitic slurs during the attack.

A meeting of administration and campus leaders in response to anti-Semitism and discrimination on campus is scheduled for 8 p.m. tonight. It will be held at Temple Hillel at 2014 N. Broad St.

  1. Article doesn’t make sense. First paragraph states there were four arrests, but then later the article says the 4th person will soon turn himself in. It’s not possible to be arrested and still be waiting to turn yourself in to police.
