The Big 5 schools, including Temple, are teaming up with Citizens Bank and the Greater Philadelphia Food Bank to collect nonperishable food items at all men’s and women’s home basketball games during November and December.
Greater Philadelphia Food Bank collection barrels will be at Temple beginning Nov. 24.
Fans can drop off donations at every men’s and women’s home game through Dec. 27.
Last year, the first Slam Dunk Hunger campaign brought in more than 4,500 pounds of food from Big 5 schools to help feed the needy in the area.
The Greater Philadelphia Food Bank distributes food donations to nearly 800 local non–profit organizations to fight hunger, helping to feed 57,000 people each week through Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties.
