Holy Toledo! Temple (1-0) hosts Toledo (1-0) on Saturday at 4 p.m. at Franklin Field. Toledo comes to town with a Heisman candidate running back in Chester Taylor and a defense just as good as Temple’s. “I think it’s going to be a real interesting game,” said Toledo coach Tom Amstutz. “I really respect Temple.” Toledo is the team that started Penn State’s great slide last season from Big 10 power to national joke. Temple is looking to go from joke to power in the Big East. Saturday’s game will begin that decision.
Temple hosts the annual Temple Invitational at McGonigle Hall this weekend. Villanova, St. Peter’s and Delaware come to town to compete. Temple plays Delaware Friday at 5 p.m., St. Peter’s on Saturday at noon and Villanova at 4 p.m. Finals and Consolation rounds are Sunday.
TheTemple Field Hockey Tournament is this weekend at Geasey Field, the AstroTurf field behind the Student Pavilion. Temple hosts Maine on Saturday at 11 a.m. The championship and consolation rounds are on Sunday.
