Temple Student Government President Bryan Carter and other members of the student body will visit Harrisburg on Feb. 25 to speak to the State Appropriations Committee.

The Appropriations Committee allocates funding for the education system of Pennsylvania. TSG’s goal in Harrisburg will be to advocate funding for Temple.

In addition, Dean of Students James Fitzsimmons announced this year’s President’s Reception will be held in the Fox and Gittis Foyer of the Liacouras Center Feb. 18.

The reception will be followed by the tip-off of Temple Men’s Basketball against Duquesne. Fitzsimmons encouraged students to attend this event with University President David Adamany.

Meanwhile, Fitzsimmons announced his resignation as Dean of Student Affairs to TSG’s general assembly. He began his tenure at Temple in 1988, and after 15 years at the university, he will leave Temple March 12 to serve as president of a retreat center in Malvern, Pa.

“I enjoyed working with you and other students,” Fitzsimmons said to the general assembly.

Heather Mills, chairman of the Academic Affairs Committee, announced there will be graduate school testing Feb. 28 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

As promised, Fitzsimmons displayed the drawings and plans for the additions to the Student Center to be ready by spring 2005.
