United by Blue is a sustainable appeal company founded by Temple University alumnus, Brian Linton in May of 2010. Joined by recent Temple University alumnus, Mike Cangi, the two team up to carry out the company’s mission: “for every product sold, United by Blue pledges to remove one pound of trash from our oceans and waterways.”

Recently, they hosted Bartram’s Garden at the Schuylkill River fifthteenth cleanup, Aug. 30. Volunteers were surprised at what was lying along the bank of the Schuylkill River, such as the child’s half of tricycle and what appeared to be a love note. Numerous plastic and glass bottles were found.

Preview the slideshow of the event coverage and be sure to pick up The Temple News Sept. 6, 2011 issue for the full-length event coverage and to find out just how much the trash collected weighed.
