Wedding planning magazines stop by bridal showcases to help take the stress away

Perfect Wedding Guide and the Knot hope to make the wedding planning process easier and more enjoyable.

When a bride starts to feel the stress of the big day, the Knot and Perfect Wedding Guide swoop in to help.

On March 16, Bouche Productions held a bridal event for upcoming newlyweds at Talamore Country Club in Ambler, Pa. called the ”Bride and Groom” Wedding Showcase. Present at the event were a few of the go-to wedding magazines that have made their mark on the bridal world.

Perfect Wedding Guide comes in the form of a pocket-sized guidebook so it can be carried around with her while she plans her wedding. At “Bride and Groom,” the booklet represented all the vendors at the show, in addition to other bridal showcase events throughout Philadelphia and New Jersey. Its pages are full of advertisements and references, such as gowns, cosmetics, venues and honeymoon trips. The booklet is broken up into sections to make it easy for the bride to find what she’s looking for.

This attention to the bride’s needs is what makes Perfect Wedding Guide stand out from other bridal planning magazines, said Account Executive Mary Denise Grady.

In addition to the booklet, Perfect Wedding Guide has an app that brides can download to keep up with the latest information in bridal news.

“The brides really seem to love it,” Grady said. “The engagement period is a really special time and it should be celebrated.”

Perhaps a little more well-known and widely circulated is the Knot. Based out of New York City and circulated in Philadelphia, Central Pennsylvania, Delaware and Pittsburgh, the Knot functions as a seasonal magazine with more than 300 pages filled with advertisements, articles and contact information.

The Knot was started in 1996 by a couple who had a bad experience planning their wedding. They decided to start the Knot to help other couples plan their big day.

Account Executive David Quatresols said the Knot is the most visited wedding website on the Internet.

In addition to the seasonal magazine, the Knot has an elaborate wedding planning website that allows brides to register and give information to get help planning their wedding.

“Basically it plans the wedding for the bride,” Quatresols said. “About 80-90 percent of every bride who gets married is on the Knot.”

After registering, the bride has her own “My Knot” account and profile that they can continue to update and receive tips on. The Knot also informs the bride when it is time to pick things like the venue and provides them with an agenda to follow.

The website also features many of the same types of advertisements as the magazine and provides links and references for all of the pieces of a wedding. Another part of the Knot’s website features a blog where brides and experts can share their stories and give tips to other brides on the wedding planning process.

“It’s a lot of fun and brides love it,” Quatresols said. “It just makes their lives so much easier and that’s ultimately what they need. They’re trying to take as much stress [as possible] out of a very happy moment.”
