On Oct. 12, the Reading Terminal Market Harvest Festival will beyond its walls for its 13th year and will transform Filbert Street into an urban farm.
“Each year is more popular with customers and vendors. The vendors really enjoy working it,” Sarah Levitsky, marketing and event manager for Reading Terminal Market, said. “It is a nice thing to do for our mostly city dulling customers who don’t usually have the chance to get out and enjoy a pumpkin patch or hayride.”
This year’s free event will be filled with food and activities reminiscent of the harvest. Food options include candy apples, apple cider, pumpkins and more. The family-friendly event allows everyone to make crafts, pick pumpkins and even take a hayride, all in the middle of the city.
Along with the fall-themed food, vendors from inside the market will be making appearances outside, including Chocolate by Mueller, Iovine Brothers, Bassets Ice Cream and Beck’s Cajun Café.
“It is a family-friendly event, a nice outing for people that isn’t going to cost them an arm and leg. We want it to be affordable, so the food is pay-as-you-go,” Levitsky said. “We want to provide customers with a seasonal experience they can enjoy.”
