In the off case anyone had forgotten being hit in the groin is the highest form of comedy, Scary Movie 3 is here to remind you. The movie is wrought with an occasionally comedic one-liner and the rest is downhill.
Like most parody comedies, Scary Movie 3 relies on milking its source material dry, this time courtesy of The Matrix Reloaded, Signs, The Ring, 8 Mile and various other pop culture references.
During one scene, Charlie Sheen runs through a cornfield, spoofing Mel Gibson in Signs. This might be the highlight of the entire movie.
But this is no one-trick pony; this film manages to recycle material from earlier spoof comedies while adhering to the Adam Sandler philosophy – the belief that any excuse for knocking someone out is a good one.
Not content to stop there, an entire cast of washed-up stars is thrown into the mix, including Pamela Anderson, Leslie Nielsen, Jenny McCarthy and Charlie Sheen, who once was a real actor, but this was before our time.
No single actor shines in this movie, but did you really expect anyone to anyway? However, everyone seems to act circles around former MTV personality Simon Rex, who looks clueless in his inexplicable starring role as George.
The only thing funny, yet confounding, is that this movie broke October box office records by pulling in more than $48 million.
It’s close to being the worst movie this year.
Seeing that nearly every scene ends with some type of disaster, it’s only fitting that the movie be a complete catastrophe.
Your biggest laugh will most likely come as you’re leaving the theater and realize that the guy sitting next to you has fallen asleep.
