Homophobe in Bloom?

International Movie Database reported that Orlando Bloom, young Hollywood heat-seeker and Kate Bosworth squeeze, reacted poorly last week to the inference of a kiss by fellow Lord of the Rings star Sir Ian McKellen. As a presenter at the British Independent Film Awards, McKellen cracked the only reason he made an RSVP was in hopes to score a smooch with Bloom. Bloom became tense and babbled about having a girlfriend to drive home his eloquent point: “I’m not gay.” Obviously.

CBS gives Duff four-letter word: Deal

The Hollywood Reporter said teen-queen-making-the-scene Hilary Duff will star in an untitled sitcom for CBS, slated for the 2004-05 season. Duff, surfacing after a messy divorce from Disney and The Lizzie Maguire Show, the show that launched her career, will have mommy dearest, Judith, to serve as executive producer for the new series. No pilot has been ordered, but insiders say the show will be a family-oriented comedy with Duff, naturally, in the driver’s seat. Hilary’s upcoming projects include a remake of Cheaper by the Dozen with funnyman Steve Martin and dropping a second single from her multi-platinum disc, Metamorphosis.

Nightmare scenario for Zellwegger

Dirt may have to make a retraction-apparently Renee Zellwegger doesn’t have it all. Web site www.imdb.com said her light-switch romance with unkempt indie rocker Jack White is reportedly dead-for good. Sources close to White’s camp said the split came after-get this-Renee started bulging for Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, her much blabbed about new project. A friend of White’s named him the heartbreaker in fear of losing his creative edge by spending too many “cuddly nights in with piles of junk food.” Ouch, Renee! You may have to cry all the way to the bank, what with over $20 million in Bridget paychecks and weight loss endorsements. Regardless, a reunion is inevitable for the two: White makes his film debut this December in Anthony Minghela’s Cold Mountain, this season’s leader in Oscar buzz, which stars Zellwegger as well as Nicole Kidman and Jude Law.

MTV’s new reality show, Rich Girls, is produced by and stars Ally Hilfiger and Jaime Gleicher. The project is a half-hour of guilty/girly/catty/cash registering fun! Hilfiger (yes, Tommy’s daughter) and Gleicher (who’s wealth and its origin remain a mystery) tear up Park Avenue and the gold-paved streets of suburban Connecticut with their delicious decadent partying and “deep” conversations. They also like to party. The show comes in a series of breakthrough reality programming for MTV (The Osbournes, Newlyweds). Rich Girls airs Tuesdays at 10:30 p.m.
