At Monday’s Temple Student Government meeting, Parliamentarian Tomas Varela announced two new policies regarding smoking and academic probation. Effective now, any student with a cumulative grade point average below a 2.0 will be placed on academic probation and will be ineligible for Temple housing and financial aid.

In addition, any student whose semseter or cumualtive GPA falls below 2.0 will also not be allowed to register for classes through Owlnet or the Diamond Line. They will be permitted only to register with advisers.
Another new policy concerns smoking on campus. Temple’s new smoking policy requires smokers keep a distance of 25 feet from any Temple property while smoking.

Zack Conen, Director of Advertising, Promotions and Ticket Sales for Temple Athletics, was Monday’s guest. Conen talked about student involvement in athletics, not only as athletes, but also as athletic supporters. He also encouraged students to support Temple’s Men’s Basketball as they open their season against Villanova University on Nov. 21 at midnight at the Liacouras Center.

Following normal TSG protocol, additional general assembly members were sworn in and more allocation bills were packaged and passed.
