Former Residents, and Temple graduate, H. R. and T. J. Reagan decided to spend their Autumn years in serene Florida. Little did they know they would be wading through glass ten years later looking for artifacts to prove they ever existed.
H.R. and T.J. Reagan with Bridgett their beloved dog were safe but now faced the internal storm.
Most of these folks are the Depression babies. Many of them”hoard”. If they hit a sale they “stock up”.
H R spent his whole life trying to “stockpile” his way through, to protect his family from ever being hungry like he was as a child.
Then, one day after three surgeries, he leaves to visit his daughter in Georgia, unaware of the pending storm, and looses a lifetime of memories and effects. It makes him naked to the elements that can chew through a man’s life in an hour and change him from comfortable to struggling.
When they returned to Punta Gorda it was ghastly. The back porch was in the lake, the front porch had smashed through the hurricane shutters and made entering the home dangerous. Holes in the roof, but it was standing.
He hired someone to tarp the roof who said the home would need to be torn down. The Reagans held hands standing in silence looking at their home like an old trunk which held all their treasures, then they said good bye to their crippled friend.
