Several students have reported being turned away from polling places because the only form of identification they had was their Temple ID card.
State law says student ID’s are a valid form of identification, but students must also bring their voter registration card or a piece of mail sent to them at their voting address.
The best form of identification is a driver’s license or other government ID with an address that matches the voter-registration address. This eliminates the need to bring a piece of mail to the poll.
Any student thinks they were unfairly turned away from voting can contact the Committee of 70, a Philadelphia election-watchdog group, at (215) 557-3600.
