With fresh blends of the newest artists coupled with the hottest beats, 21-year-old DJ Illipse, also known as Dominic Sanchez, is slowly trying to conquer the world with his amazing beats.
Hailing from Ventura County, Calif., Sanchez has been deejaying on and off for about three years.
“Originally, I wanted to rap, he said, but I realized that it wasn’t going to happen so I saved up for a used turntable and a mixer. Eventually, I had enough for another table and that was that,” he said.
His interest in becoming a DJ also came from a true love and interest in hip-hop and a desire to be more than just a listener.
“I wanted to participate,” he said. Sanchez puts together his blends with a cappella and a new beat layered together so it sounds like a new song.
Dominic stays busy trying to look for new music so as to expose his listeners to something different. Lately, especially with his new mixes, he has been sticking with more underground artists.
“Basically, I just try to make a good CD from start to finish.” Dominic said. His latest mix titled, “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy,” a play on the famous book by Douglas Adams, features all new underground blends with a couple of familiar names such as Kanye West and Notorious B.I.G. thrown in all mixed up – DJ Illipse style.
Sanchez is currently not signed with any label right now but hopes to get signed soon, so that he can possibly do mixtapes for labels and showcase music from their artists.
Right now, Sanchez is mainly focused on his education. “At the moment, this is just for fun. Once I make the mixtapes, I just give them all away.”
He continued: “Eventually, though, I would really like to get to a solid point where I could turn it into a job, but right now, education is what comes first.”
