The Owls lost their final home game to Cincinnati 2-1 on Sunday afternoon at the Ambler Sports Complex.
With the loss to Cincinnati (8-9-1,4-3-1), Temple (6-9-1,1-6) has now extended its losing streak to six games and has allowed multiple goals by the last four opponents. The six consecutive losses is the longest winning drought since 2009.
Junior defender Alyssa Kirk scored a goal for the Owls. Sophomore defender Taylor Trusky recorded her first assist of the season. Scoring eight or more saves in the last three games, sophomore Shauni Kerkhoff recorded eight saves against the Bearcats.
Cincinnati’s Emily Elsbrock and Katy Couperus each registered a goal. Goalkeeper Natalie Smith earned the victory, recording three saves on the day.
Both teams’ defenses denied opposing scores in the first period. In the second period, in the 59th minute, Elsbrock netted a goal off of a rebound, putting the Bearcats ahead 1-0. In the 76th minute, Cincinnati scored again, this time Couperus supplied the offense.
A late Kirk goal cut the deficit to one score with 1:37 remaining, but the Owls was unable to find a late game winning shot attempt.
