A 26-6 run in the second half and senior forward Shanea Cotton’s 19 points led Temple past Saint Joseph’s, 60-48. Charlotte, the No.2 team in the Atlantic Ten Conference, looms on Wednesday.
The men’s basketball team won the game, 61-59, but it didn’t come easy, as the Owls missed six free-throws down the stretch after leading by 10 with 54 seconds to go.
Striving to turn the ball less than 15 times a game, the Owls are averaging 19 turnovers per game this season.
That has become a problem for coach Tonya Cardoza and her squad, who have a 0.82 assist-to-turnover ratio.
A career-high 19 points from freshman forward Kristen McCarthy led the Owls to a 76-56 win over the Billikens. Three other players also scored in double-figures behind 52 percent shooting from the field.
