If there is more in your pocket than Diamond Dollars, hail a cab to Center City. Take the C bus from Broad Street or the subway (going south from Temple’s campus!) to City Hall for a less expensive alternative.
Love Park is a great place to get your bearings. Temple University Center City (TUCC) is just across the street from Love Park which is located at 15th Street and the JFK Boulevard. For culturally diverse restaurants and unique shopping stroll down to 16th and 17th Streets and be sure to check out Qdoba Mexican Grill for authentic Mexican, Joe’s Pizza and Pietro’s for brick oven pizza and Marathon Grill for simple yet exotic, affordable meals.
Take a walk down Walnut Street towards Rittenhouse Square for countless artsy stores as well as trendy outdoor restaurants.
Be on the look out for Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream and if you’re eighteen, follow the scent of patchouli to Wonderland, a hippy head shop.
The city’s finest shopping can be found along Walnut Street and at the Shops at Liberty Place, 16th and Chestnut Streets. So put on your walking shoes and shop ’til you drop at stores like J. Crew or Urban Outfitters. If you have a bulging wallet, check out Burberry or Tiffany’s.
Outdoor art exhibits, concerts and other entertainment often take place in Rittenhouse Square. Check out live music in Rittenhouse from Aug. 23 to Sept. 13 during an outdoor concert series. For more information on this and other events go to phillyfunguide.com.
