Fire ripped through a house west of Main Campus Thursday morning, injuring one firefighter and one child, said Executive Chief  Richard Davison of the Philadelphia Fire Department.

The fire broke out shortly after 10 a.m., on the 1700 block of North Gratz Street. During the fire, a firefighter and a boy were taken to the hospital. The blaze in the three-story row home was placed under control by fire officials at 10:46 a.m.

Temple Police dispatched on officer to check on students living next door to the fire, Deputy Director of Campus Safety Services Charlie Leone said. Though the fire didn’t spread to the students’ residence, the property will have to be inspected before students are permitted to live in again. They were permitted to gather some belongings and had other housing lined up, Leone said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
