Freshman class shines in blowout win at Delaware State

Two freshmen tallied goals while two other notched assists as the Owls beat Delaware State, 5-0, in Dover, Delaware.

A pair of freshman got the Owls off to a hot start on Sunday as Temple (1-1) shook off it loss to Drexel in the season opener by taking down Delaware State, 5-0, at DSU Alumni Stadium in Dover, Delaware.

Freshman forward Jules Blank assisted on a goal by freshman midfielder Fran Davis to start the game’s scoring in the eighth minute.

Junior midfielder Elana Falcone later found junior forward Gabriella McKeown to give Temple a 2-0 advantage, which the team took into halftime.

Twenty three seconds into the second half, sophomore midfielder Sarah McGinn found the back of the net for her second goal of the season on an assist by McKeown.

McKeown scored her second goal of the game in the 77th minute off an assist by freshman defender Emily Keitel. The two goals by McKeown matches her season total from last year.

Freshman midfielder Morgan Morocco finished off the Owls’ five-goal win with her first career goal in the 80th minute.

Sophomore goalie Jordan Nash continued her strong start to the season by posting her fourth career shutout and saving the only shot she faced, which was a penalty kick.
