Last Friday November 4th, the Indian Students Association of Temple celebrated Diwali, the festival of lights in Mitten Hall. Celebrated by every religion in the subcontinent, Diwali symbolizes the victory of righteousness and the lifting of spiritual darkness. The word “Diwali” comes from the Sanskrit word “Deepavali” – Deepa meaning light and Avali, meaning a row. The festival is celebrated on a grand scale in almost all the regions of India and is looked upon mainly as the beginning of the New Year.
