From Feb. 9 to Feb. 20, Tomlinson Theater performed the production of playwright Charles Mee’s “Big Love.” This comedic play puts a modern twist on the classic Greek text, “The Suppliant Women” by Aeschylus, and won the 2002 OBIE or Off-Broadway Theater Award for its production. “Big Love” tells the tale of 50 brides who flee to an Italian villa in the hopes of escaping their groomsmen. Throughout the play, the women are constantly battling their soon-to-be husbands in desperate attempts to escape the fate of marriage. The amusing plot brings out themes of revenge and highlights the power of love.
