The Temple News Staff
Tracy Metz, assistant foundation director of the Pennsylvania Newspaper Association, announced Tuesday that The Temple News was among the winners of the 2006 Scholastic and Collegiate Keystone Press Awards.
The statewide competition – broken down by eight professional divisions and divisions for high schools, colleges and universities – reinforces “excellence by individuals in the newspaper profession by recognizing journalism that consistently provides relevance, integrity and initiative in serving readers, and faithfully fulfills its First Amendment rights/responsibilities,” according to PNA.
“The goal is for the ‘Keystones’ to stimulate journalists to improve their craft and ultimately improve their community.”
