For the second day in a row, firefighters responded to the Morgan Hall construction site after burning debris ignited within the 27-story high-rise. No injuries resulted from the fires, according to a TU Advisory sent out at 3:01 p.m.
In total, six fires have broken out in the tower since yesterday, Feb. 11, Assistant Vice President for University Communications Ray Betzner said. The advisory stated that the fires were set, involved construction debris and were not serious.
Betzner said that federal officials from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives as well as the Philadelphia Fire Marshal’s Office are currently investigating the cause of the fires.
Fire on the building’s 18th floor caused the evacuation of the building and closure of sections of Broad Street and Cecil B. Moore Avenue yesterday.
Betzner said that construction workers were back at work, and that construction would continue as normal at the site.
