Temple Student Government President Juan Galeano began Monday’s meeting with a discussion of the Constitutional Convention. The convention will be held March 2. Galeano outlined the goal for the convention and its importance.
“Temple students will frame the student voice. This is really making Temple history,” Galeano said.
The importance of a student voice was echoed when TSG Vice President for Student Affairs Nadine Mompremier presented information regarding university-wide Registration Day on March 4. Mompremier said she hopes to get as many people registered to vote as possible this year. She has been working on this project since last semester.
Registration Day consists of people going around to residence halls trying to register students to vote. Students can also register in the Student Center atrium between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Mompremier also said she hopes to get a polling location on campus for the elections. When students register they will also sign a petition asking for a polling station. This will show the students’ desire to vote and how a polling station on campus will be beneficial.
Mark Gondek from Jimmy John’s hoagie shop on the first level of the Edge visited the TSG meeting in an effort to get the word out for his store.
The meeting ended with the swearing in of the new Parliamentarian Jon DeSantis and Elections Commissioner Alex Barnett.
