Are you already tired of the limited and repetitive food choices at the Johnson, Hardwick and the Student Center?
Well, get used to it. It is only the third week of classes.
For students living on campus, that leaves thirteen more weeks until the comfort of home-cooked meals can be enjoyed during winter recess.
Fortunately, the city of Philadelphia offers many unique dining options. This week concludes Center City Restaurant Week.
Since September 14 over 40 of Philadelphia’s finest restaurants have offered three-course meals for only thirty dollars.
The price is per person for dinner only. Tax, alcohol and gratuity are not included.
Thirty dollars may seem expensive to college students accustomed to an all-you-can eat buffet at Johnson and Hardwick for $5.75.
However, students must realize that the food at most of the participating restaurants usually costs much more.
Participating restaurants include Alma de Cuba, Bleu, Circa and Twenty21.
Another perk of Restaurant Week: the Philadelphia Parking Association will have parking facilities available for $7 or less from 5pm to 1am during the entire week.
Trips on the SEPTA subway and bus lines cost $1.30 each way.
The $30 meals may end tomorrow, but many events continue in the city throughout the year.
With a little research, anyone can find a good excuse to abandon the cafeteria every once in a while for a more unique dining experience that’s free of mystery meat.
A complete list of participating restaurants and parking facilities can be found on the Center City District Web site: www.centercityphila.org.
