Alliya Butts out for the season with ACL injury

The senior guard, who averaged 15.5 points per game last season, will have surgery within the next two weeks, according to the release.

Senior guard Alliya Butts will miss the 2017-18 season after tearing her ACL during practice on Wednesday, according to a team release.

Butts will have surgery within the next two weeks, according to the release.

Butts is a three time all-American Athletic Conference and All-Big 5 selection and has been a main contributor for the Owls ever since joining the program in 2014.

Last season, Butts averaged 15.5 points per game. In 2016-17 postseason play, Butts averaged 21.3 points per game. She scored a season-high 28 points against the University of Oregon during the first round of the NCAA tournament.

Butts is seventh on Temple’s all-time scoring list with 1,481 points.
