Scary Movie, Big Money

Exhibitor Relations reports record breaking October box office numbers for Scary Movie 3. The third film in the franchise made waves during pre-production, having dropped the Wayans Bros from screenwriting and directing, replacing them with spoof-master David Zucker (Airplane!, Naked Gun). A reported $49.7 million in receipts bled from the flick, spoofing such 2003 cash cows as The Ring, The Others and Signs. Miramax co-chair Bob Weinstein credits the success to Zucker coaxing comedy heavyweights with a better script. Scary Movie 3 stars Ana Faris, Leslie Nielsen, Queen Latifah and Charlie Sheen.

Boo, Meg Ryan!

Web site Zap2it.com says that back-from-the-dead Meg Ryan was booed last Wednesday by 200 wet fans in London. At the UK premiere of her sexy psychological thriller In The Cut, around 200 Meg-lovers waited in the rain for a glimpse of the star. A source close to Ryan said she sprung from her car and bolted for the press conference, shielding her face from fans and cameras outside the arena. Dirt doesn’t think that’s a good thing, considering Miss Meg peaked in the days of Sleepless In Seattle.

Talk about…

JC Chasez’s freaky new single “Some Girls (Dance With Women).” The ‘N Sync member’s second solo single will hit radio mid-November and will detail what Chasez thinks girls will do to catch his eye. “Some girls dance with women/ knowin’ that it gets my attention/ I want to get in with them/ so let me grab a drink and let’s go.” The track comes fresh off of Schizophrenic, Chasez’s long awaited solo disc that’s set to hit stores in January. Promotion and a short tour for the LP are set to run through March. After completion, ‘N Sync is rumored to be heading back to the studio to work on a fourth group album.
