Sharese Shedrick, an entrepreneurship major, already has her foot in the door as she prepares for the future.

Shedrick is the president of the Main Campus Program Board, the organization that is responsible for bringing many big events to campus. The Main Campus Program Board works with the Temple community as a whole, working to diversify social events.

She has been involved with the group since her freshman year, working as the community chairperson both her sophomore and junior year. Her current project is a comedy show called, “Off the Hook,” coming to Mitten Hall on Oct. 12.

Originally from West Philly, Shedrick is a member of the Christian Stronghold Baptist Church. In addition, she has worked with the College and Career Guidance Ministry for the past two years, encouraging students to take the SATs.

Shedrick now lives in Montgomery County, where she volunteers with the Driving Under Influence Safety Services. For the past four years, Shedrick has worked with this non-profit organization, taking calls from local bars and driving heavily intoxicated people home.

Simply put, Temple spirit is in her blood. Shedrick has grown up hearing the Temple name, as some of her family members have been working at Temple for the past 20 years. She truly values Temple and all that it offers.

“If you are in a suburban area, it is a great urban school. Philadelphia is great; if you learn the city. Many people don’t know the city and don’t know what they are missing,” she said.

As she finishes her fourth year, Shedrick looks forward to walking across the graduation stage in May. Although she has enjoyed her time here, she looks forward to possibly attending law school.

With each step Shedrick takes, she continues to walk down a path leading to her final dream: to own a full-time spa and beauty salon.
